Tbilisi in Autumn– beautiful places in the capital
Tbilisi is distinguished by its versatile architecture. There is an old part of the city full of historical buildings, churches and small houses with special carvings and typical balconies. Through the beautiful glass bridge, the old Tbilisi is connected to the modern part of the city. 1. Lake Park
It is located in the Vake district of Tbilisi at the western end of Chavchavadze Avenue. There are also several beer gardens, beautiful nature, and fountains. On top of the hill in the park, there is a large World War II Memorial. It is a calm, peaceful place with beautiful red sand and some rides for the children. A perfect place to relax and have fun with your friends and children. The park was opened in 1946 as an example of a Socialist Classical park, having a grand entry and huge stairs.
2. Lisi Lake
It is located at the 615-730 meters above the sea level. The Lisi Lake is one of the most popular recreational zones in Tbilisi. It is distinguished by its diverse fauna. The recreational zone includes jogging and bike paths, an open café, sport and playground facilities and the renovated beach for tan lovers. The surrounding place is perfect for picnics, also to relax and play with your children and friends.
3. Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden in Tbilisi becomes a magical place in fall. Plants and trees particular to different countries as well as Georgia and a waterfall in the garden will create a great walk for visitors. In the past, the garden was owned by the kings but nowadays it is a state property. There are some plants that are already in the red book. After sightseeing in the old city, one can easily enter the garden and enjoy a walk there, through plants that have been collected for decades.
4. Turtle Lake
Turtle Lake is one of the famous destinations for not only tourists but locals as well. There are several ways to get there – by car, by Taxi or by cable car. The cable car is the most convenient one to get to the lake – cheap and quick. And while hanging on the cable, one can enjoy a perfect view over the city especially when it is autumn. There are several bars and restaurants near the lake so one will easily find a place to spend time and chill out there.
5. Kojori fortress
Kojori is about 20 kilometers southwest of Tbilisi. There are houses, the medieval Kojori Fortress (also known as Agarani or Azeuli Fortress) and breathtaking Kojori forest. The earliest layers of the fortress date back to the late 11th century. A monument to the Georgian Junkers (cadets) who died in the battle (The Red Army’s invasion of Georgia in February 1921) was erected on the site in the 1990s. Kojori forest is one of the best places for chilling out near Tbilisi, especially in Autumn when nature is most beautiful.
